ARTIST STATEMENT
There is so much about the world that excites me and that draws me in. Yet, there were things I wanted to be part of, but never was: partly by design, partly because of who I am. These are the moments I explore on my canvas. I seek out the exhilaration and energy of a scene and capture them in my painting. These micro-moments observing people and their experiences are both nostalgic and reassuring to me. It is within every detail, line, and snapshot of time in a place that I am inspired to hold onto these moments through my painting.
When I consider all of this, it motivates me to create more memories and most importantly to have more fun.
BIO
Suzi Balamaci is an artist, living and painting in the Washington, D.C., area. Her journey began at the art table in her earliest memories, progressing through years of private instruction in primary school, including classes at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design in secondary school. Her path continued to the University of Maryland, earning a BA in Studio Art, leading her to the three-year Master Artist Program at The Compass Atelier.
Suzi’s view of the world has informed her art at every stage of life. Capturing the essence of life on the canvas is at the heart of her inspiration.
